After only waiting about two weeks we finally got the postponement date for the 2022 GRAMMY Awards.
The 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards ceremony was originally scheduled to be held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on January 31, 2022. This date was quickly shut down after cases in Los Angeles started to rise due to the Omicron variant.
Though new cases have been dropping 18% weekly for the past three weeks, The Recording Academy found it best to push the show to a date further down the road.
People were still holding out for the show to take place on the 31st since the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles is booked with events.
Just yesterday The Recording Academy announced that not only are we getting a new date but we’re also getting a new venue in a new state.
The 2022 GRAMMYs will now take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 3, 2022.
The GRAMMYS aren’t the only award show that is making a date switch. The CMT Awards will move from its scheduled April 3 ceremony date to a date that month.
That date has not been announced yet.
The GRAMMY nominations were first announced on November 23th. Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, and H.E.R. grabbed eight nominations each, with Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo both getting seven nominations each.
Strangely enough, the person holding the most nominations, which is 11, goes to Jon Batiste. He is The Late Show” bandleader who released a new album last year titled “We Are.”
One interesting fact is that Selena Gomez just got her first-ever GRAMMY Award nomination.
If you are like us you thought she not only won a couple GRAMMY’s in the past but was at least nominated for something.
We need to stay tuned to see who wins it all!
