Could “The Voice” Change Also Affect The Masked Singer?
There is a MAJOR announcement that NBC just put out in regards to their hit reality show, “The Voice.”
“The Voice” has been a feature on televisions since it started back in 2011. Since that time the show has aired two seasons in one year. This is how we are going on season 22 in eleven years.
Frances Berwick, who works for NBCUniversal in their Television and Streaming wing, said the following in an interview with Deadline;
“We think The Voice will be on NBC for a very long time to come and we believe the best way to protect the brand, while also super serving fans, is to produce one amazing cycle this year.”
What does “one amazing cycle this year” mean? This indicates that they plan on filming just one season of “The Voice” this year.
This is a BIG move in the world of Hollywood. This could be happening for many different reasons.
It could mean that they want to play it safe this year with covid or maybe they want to stop show fatigue.
Show fatigue is when an audience gets run down from watching the same program over again.
This past season the show averaged about 6.2 million viewers per episode. This is a major drop since seasons 1-18 used to have an average of 12.4 million viewers per episode.
Show fatigue is defiantly something they could be looking at.

It’s no secret that the ratings for the Masked Singer have been dropping since its first few seasons.
Season 6 ended with an average of 5ish million per episode. To compare their season 2 brought in an average of 8.5 million.
It is possible that The Masked Singer could follow “The Voice” if they don’t pick up their ratings.
