According to a statement late last night from ABC’s News President, Kim Godwin, Whoopi Goldberg has been suspended for two weeks from “The View.”
The announcement was made on Twitter and goes on to say;
“Effective immediately, I am suspending Whoopi Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments. While Whoopi has apologized, I’ve asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the impact of her comments. The entire ABC News organization stands in solidarity with our Jewish colleagues, friends, family and communities.”

The suspension comes after Monday’s show when Goldberg said that the Holocaust was “not about race.”

After the episode Goldberg received a ton of heat online.
Later on that night she appeared on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” to address her comments. In part she said that she didn’t think that “the Holocaust wasn’t about race.”
She continued by saying “people got very angry and still are angry. I’m getting a lot of mail from folks and a lot of real anger. But I thought it was a salient discussion because as a Black person, I think of race as being something that I can see.”
This may not have helped her situation as it only made Twitter blow up with comments about her apology being fake.
On Tuesday’s episode of “The View,” Goldberg opened the show with an apology by saying;
“I said something that I feel a responsibility for not leaving unexamined, because my words upset so many people, which was never my intention. I understand why now, and for that I am deeply, deeply grateful because the information I got was really helpful, and it helped me understand some different things.”
What do you think about her comments? Do you think the 2-weeks punishment is enough?
